Het hele internet staat op zijn kop nadat geruchten over een mogelijke lancering van de iPad 3 naar buiten zijn getreden. Volgens John Gruber, hoofd-editor van Daring Fireball, heeft Apple deze herfst een grote verrassing in petto. M.G. Siegler van Tech Crunch ondersteunt het gevoel dat Gruber heeft.
Omdat het nu wel duidelijk is dat de iPad 2 binnenkort haar debuut gaat maken, zou de veronderstelling van Gruber duiden op een nieuwere versie komend najaar: de iPad 3? Gruber vertelt hier o.a. het volgende over:
“Summer feels like a long time away. If my theory is right, they’re not only going to be months behind the iPad 2, but if they slip until late summer, they might bump up against the release of the iPad 3.
“Thus, my gut feeling is that Apple will move the iPad to a September release schedule, alongside the iPods. But they wouldn’t want to wait over a year and a half from the announcement of the original iPad to announce the second one — not with these stakes, and not with so many serious competitors trying their best to catch up.
Ergens is deze veronderstelling bestwel bizar. Hoe kun je mensen straks een kersverse iPad 2 laten kopen, om ze vervolgens een half jaar later met een verouderd model op te zadelen? Toch zijn de geruchten afkomstig uit niet de minste bronnen. M.G. Siegler van Tech Crunch vertelt over dit alles het volgende:
“A few days ago, we heard from a very good source that Apple was assembling the pieces for a “big fall surprise”. While intriguing, that could obviously mean anything. But the “surprise” part clearly means it’s something beyond the regular iPod/iTunes (and perhaps MacBook Air) refreshes that Apple does in the fall. Still, that leaves a lot of room for guesses. An actual Apple television? A touchscreen iMac? Who knows.
Well, until today. We’ve now heard that this “fall surprise” is related to this would-be iPad 3. We don’t have any more concrete information beyond that. But, as of right now, the plan is apparently to release one iteration of the iPad in the next few weeks. And then blow the doors open with another new version in the fall.
De rede voor Apple om een iPad 3 in het najaar te lanceren, zou simpelweg iets te maken kunnen hebben met het aanpassen van hun schema. Normaal gesproken brengt Apple nieuwe producten uit in de lente. Omdat veel mensen de dure hardware vaak pas rond Kerst aanschaffen, zou een 'najaars-release' wellicht een betere planning zijn voor Apple. Als veel mensen hun gadget rond Kerst aanschaffen en ze vier maanden later alweer achterlopen, worden ze daar niet blij van.
Al met al is alles voorlopig gebaseerd op een 'gevoel' van Gruber en een 'speculatie' van Tech Crunch. Of het allemaal waar is moet nog blijken. Wat denk jij?
